HEADWAY SCHOOL for GIFTEDNESS
HEADWAY SCHOOL for GIFTEDNESS (HSG) accepts students for Kindergarten 2 to Grade 6 for the following academic programs:
Face-to-Face Program
The HSG Face-to-Face Program is the mainstream academic program of the school. It utilizes an individualized and differentiated approach in student instruction. The Department of Education’s (DepEd) K to 12 syllabus is used but it is revised and enhanced by HSG’s tailor-fit programming approach. Due to the close partnership between HSG and parents and the fact that HSG’s Face-to-Face Program is tailor-fit to each and every student, it can definitely be said that the child is the focus and center of HSG school instruction.
Online Study Program
The HSG Online Study Program is an alternative to HSG’s Face to Face Classroom Program. As HSG believes that no crisis should stop children from learning and from developing holistically, the school continues to be innovative to adapt to varying social, psychological, and environmental circumstances. Hence, the re-launch of the HSG Online Study Program in 2020 enhanced with new technologies, research, and innovation in e-learning and systems.
The HSG Online Study Program was implemented at HSG in 2009. It was spearheaded by Mr. Joel C. Yuvienco, blended learning designer / trainer and knowledge management / ICT consultant, to accommodate students’ 21st century learning needs. Similar to HSG’s regular face-to-face program, the Online Study Program also employs an individualized and differentiated approach in student instruction. The K to 12 syllabus is used, but it is modified and enhanced by HSG’s tailor-fit programming approach. It incorporates teacher and parent collaboration in the implementation of the school’s program at home where technology is a tool in the facilitation of knowledge. Hence, the child remains at the center of school instruction.
Home School Program
Students may experience the HSG program within their own home through readily available modules. The main difference of the Home School Program is that the parent / implementer, instead of the teacher, is the one responsible for the educational instruction of the student.
- The Parent / Implementer is given tools (syllabus, modules, assessment tools, calendar of activities, awards list, grading sheet, Individualized Education Plan (IEP) template, etc.) to facilitate the educational program at home.
- HSG utilizes online communication in updating, exchanging letters / information, and sending of materials.
- Parents can access online the lesson materials made by the teachers.
- Once a week, students can attend a video conference for socialization with their peers.
- Students can join the school’s special activities such as United Nations Week, graduation and the like.
